APPLE/iPhone Charges 30% More than pc, android or desktop THE WAIT IS OVER! There is now a Discord set up for you, along with an ever-expanding library of peer reviewed and vetted research tools, scholarly journals and articles on all things even tangentially related to freshwater and brackish water aquaria! It is free to get updates, announcements and to post questions or helpful links, photos and videos of your own aquariums, fish and plants. The first level of this discord $2.99 monthly is designed to be a fishkeeping, botany and ecology 101- 401 level resource, that is affordable and democratically steered by you the viewers and community members! You can support the channel at the next membership level, of $5.99 a month. This will be where I ask for direct feedback via polls and suggestions, for content and the direction of the channel, in a more hands on way. This is a great level if you want more personalized direct feedback from me, personally- as well as bonus materials, behind the scenes content and of course...ANYTHING YOUTUBE CENSORED. Alas the premium membership AKA the Secret Scholar level, is $19.99 and will be where you can chat directly with me, and daily I will be checking in and there to give feedback, opinions or guidance based on my lifetime keeping fish. Also, this level will serve as my producers... what should we do for contests? who should the channel work with? And occaisional private streams or group live chats as well :) Remember, I don't expect any of your support, but if I have earned it, I appreciate it immensely! If you prefer youtube, patreon or currier pigeon, there IS NO PRESSURE TO GET INVOLVED WITH DISCORD! Discord is simply another- more community oriented way to support the research and content here at Fishtory! as well as hopefully, a much more personalized and intimate way for you all to share your hobby with me in photos, videos and of course via writing. Alright my friends! The choice is yours, hop over to discord, stay here, do both, do neither.... do what makes you happy. Live, love nature, and learn everyday! My Redhump Eartheater AKA Geophagus steindachneri, are finally adulting! 🙂 Named by the very cool husband and wife ichthyologists', The Eigenmann's in 1922. (It is worth reading about this amazing scientific minded couple, in their own right.) They are native to river drainages in northern and western Colombia Magdalena, Cauca and Sinú basins, as well as being found in northwestern Venezuela in the El Limón River. Spawning takes place on a smooth rocks or in a "nest" of clean and manicured sand. The female lays one or two eggs, then the male fertilizes them. The female immediately takes the fertilized eggs into her mouth and proceeds to lay more eggs. This tedious process continues until spawning is completed. The female carries the eggs until they are free-swimming and have absorbed their yolk sacs, about 2–3 weeks. She eats little to no food during this period. Eventually, she releases them and allows them to search for food, taking them back into her mouth when she feels threatened. One of the most charming behaviors seen in this species, as with other mouth brooders, is parental care. The brooding female often signals to her fry when danger is present, ( likely using a combination of pectoral fin signals and body posturing, that varies by location and population!) When danger has passed, she then shuts her fry out of her mouth to encourage her young fry to learn to forage on their own.

Hey friends. Sorry for the delay in livesteam this evening. I have been having trouble shifting into gear, and I always want to tell you all the cool stuff I've learned since the last stream. Lately I'm just totally exhausted by simply going through the motions of a day. Hopefully the Dr's can sort out what hormone or nutrients I'm lacking causing the mental and energy crashes. Hopefully I'll leave an interesting livestream rerun, no matter the actual broadcast time. Thanks for being amazing, my friends and I'll see you later this evening of perhaps weds morning. Cheers.

Livestream Busted for 9/17. Hey friends, the internet is acting up still ( as it was this morning, and my neighbors also confirmed their internet is offline today). Seeing as I don't have truly unlimited data and my celly telly is already being throttled with data speeds, I do not think we will have a show today, Tuesday the 17th. My apologies! If it comes online early this evening or tomorrow I will stream ASAP However :D Side note, my wife and I are also celebrating our anniversary, and normally I'd go to a Cafe or store and stream using their wifi, but alas we have dinner plans this evening So all the events have conspired to stop the stream. My apologies! -Alex

Alright Erry' One... The One, The Only: Heiko Bleher will be chatting with me live tomorrow morning at 7am pacific time / 10am East Coast time! Bleher has been in the Hobby over 70 YEARS! His very first steps, words and memories were all colored by the fishkeeping and ichthyology world, living in a Post WWII South America, with his naturalist parents. His parents brought him along their journeys, and made a living and name for the Bleher family, exporting and exploring rivers, forests and mountains of the world, for new and rare fish, and aquatic plant species. By the late 1950s he began exporting fish, including the iconic rummy nose tetra, and hundreds more of the fish you and I know and love today! We will cover his work over the last 70 years, and check in with what is in the future of this aquatic luminary, publisher and biotope tank pioneer. Aquarium Legend, Author, Naturalist, Fishkeeper and at times, Controversial German Explorer: Heiko!
