130 Years Ago, Two Young French Inventors created a machine that changed the world forever. They were known as the Lumiére Brothers. Together they revolutionized, art, storytelling, science and education forever. TWO of these FIRST TEN FILMS EVER FILMED happened to be on the subject of Fish, AQUARIUMS and goldfish keeping. Please feel free to join me, and let's watch this amazing treasure, of aquaritic & fishkeeping history! https://youtu.be/Brn1O7lLJw0?si=Bpjuf... By both being able to film and create movies written via light onto 35mm film, and simultaneously being a film developing lab AND the machine needed to project film onto the screen, all at once. The first 3 years of their work was all very short in duration, being composed of 5 to 12 short films, 30 seconds to a minute long maximum. Pretty amazing stuff for the first ever movie camera, film dark room, AND movie projector, huh?! It's Spring,1895, and a few dozen artists, chemists, philanthropist' and journalists. Are Gallered together in the dark, staring at the blank wall in Le Grand Cafe in Paris. Suddenly, For the first time in history, the wall, later renamed a "movie screen", was illuminated by flickering images. This was the FIRST public movie Screening, and featured a revolutionary technology, that magically transformed 10 short scenes, each under a minute in length. The scenes were of very ordinary in their subject matter. People gardening, kids playing under a garden hose's stream of water, horse drawn carriages, factory workers leaving their shift... AND FISH. TWO OF THE FIRST 10 FILMS EVER PUBLICALLY SCREENED WERE OF AND OR, ABOUT FISH! OVER 130 years later, we can join those elite Parisian few, and also share in the magic of cinema. Not so much for any modern reasons such as plot or cinematography, but rather as a time machine, and an archive of how fishkeeping has gladly evolved, changed and improved, but also, how it remains a constant passion and life long infatuation for people still today.

This photo is of the same fish from different angles, while colored up for spawning this evening. What a stunner! They change from electric Metallic blue and green to ruby red and orange with the flick of a tail and any decent lightning- let alone the beauty they can display when natural light illuminates them at the end of a day! Known as "Imperial blue lapis tetras, bleeding blue tetras" or " Imperial Lapis Azure tetras", Hyphessobrycon cf. (melanostichos). Is still not well described in all it's variations. Best kept in groups or 9 or more fish, in well planted and well aerated waters. This is a bit different than other tetras in that is will not survive in black water. It prefers neutral waters with low tds. There are still discussions on if this is a new species, If it is a color morph of 2 existing possible species or simply a collection point curiosity. Found in the hills and head waters of the Upper Rio Tapajos Basin of Brazil, this little omnivores stays only 2 to 2.5 cm fully grown, and seems to do very well in community tanks of fellow small charycins, plecos, cory's or pencilfish.
